On sabbatical

There just aren't enough hours in my day, especially as my business continues to grow, and I'm getting all stressed out worrying about it. Am I offending my friends if I don't visit them regularly? Am I losing readers because I don't post regularly? And worst of all: is it totally narcissistic of me to worry like this?

Blogging is supposed to be fun, not stressful. So, reluctantly, I've decided to take a leave of absence until June. I will check in with my blogroll periodically, but I probably won't be posting. Come summer, I will have lots of time since my teacher-husband will be on vacation, and next fall Tempestuous Toddler will be in preschool [huge sigh of relief!].

Best regards to you all, and I'll see you in June!

  • oh! I'm so sad. Yours is one that I always check, even if I only have time to visit one or two blogs. I will miss the posts a lot. It was a great way to keep up with you AND have a conversation of sorts in between times of seeing you in person.

Nonetheless, I completely understand your motivation. I look forward to June.

  • Totally missing you already. Just when I get back into blogging, all the good bloggers are going on hiatus.

By the way--AMAZING work on your website. I'm extremely impressed.

  • I'm sorry you feel so stressed and support you in doing what feels right for you. That's terrific about your business!!

As another entrepreneur who has a "temptuous teen", I empathise. I'll miss you greatly. Your top-notch posts and unique, personable comments are treats I regularly gobbled up.
P.S. Does this mean Thanksgiving is still on since it occurs later than June? ;)

  • You will be missed but not forgotten! I'll always be checking in to see what's going on even if you don't read and post over at my blog. :)

  • I finally decided just to do what I can and not worry about it. I visit those on my blogroll when I can, and I figure that if the only reason someone is reading my blog is out of a sense of obligation because I comment on theirs, well, that's not really the kind of readership I want to cultivate anyway. I mean, yes, I want to read the people I get to know through blogs. But I'd like readers who read my blog because they like reading it, not just readers who comment on my blog so I'll come to theirs. KWIM?

  • Julie,

I'll miss your fabulous posts. But good for you for taking the time that you need to devote to other projects. I look forward to your return when blogging is manageable and fun for you again.
